Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH GEORGINA JOHNER July 16, 1917 - June 29, 2005 It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Elizabeth Georgina (Wilson) Johner. She will be missed by son Michael; daughter Ann; son Richard; daughter-in-law Harriet; and grandson Rory. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1986 and her brother Billy in 1990. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Betty lost her mother Georgina at the age of 12, then her grandmother Elizabeth died three years later. She then went to live with her aunt and uncle who were a big part of her life. Betty chose a career in nursing and worked with children. It was during the war that she met and married Edward. As a war-bride she made the long trek from Edinburgh to Estevan, SK where she joined Ed who took over the family farm. Later moving to Winnipeg, Betty resumed her career in nursing while raising a family. She enjoyed her many years with Court Star of Hope raising money for charity and her many bowling trophies proved she was an avid bowler. Betty and Ed both enjoyed travelling and had many happy memories of weekends down at Jessica Lake. The family would like to thank all the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their care and kindness towards Betty in the two years she resided there and especially the nurses for making her last couple of weeks as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's memory to the Alzheimer's Society. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.
